Swedish Rescue: Czechoslovaks in Sweden during World War II

Švédská záchrana

  • March - April 2026
  • guarantor: Faculty of Arts CU
  • author: Department of Scandinavian Studies ÚGS
  • medium: kapa panels
  • placement: foyer C and the adjacent corridor

In Foyer C and the adjacent corridor in the Jinonice Campus, you can see a new exhibition until April 2026. The exhibition is in Czech only.

The exhibition was prepared in 2025 under the leadership of Vendula Hingarová by the Department of Scandinavian Studies ÚGS on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The exhibition reflects the fates of the inhabitants of occupied Czechoslovakia, who survived thanks to courage, luck or the rescue of humanitarian organizations. Their stories reveal how deeply the tragedy of war was inscribed even in the peaceful image of neutral Sweden - and how human destinies were interconnected across borders during the difficult war years.

Application for using the exhibition space

Here you can find the form through which you can apply for using the exhibition space. The Public Affairs and Communications department will assess the request in terms of time and space capacities and the suitability of the exhibited materials and will contact you back.

The following spaces are available:

  • walls in foyer C
  • walls in the corridor in front of the halls B103A and B103B

The faculty does not provide press services. The faculty can lend 50x70 cm and 70x100 cm frames for the exhibition. It is also possible to use your own frames if they are equipped with a wire or other mechanism suitable for attachment to the hook of the exhibition system.

After agreement with PAC, the exhibitor installs the exhibition independently with the assistance of the Building Administration department in the Jinonice Campus. After installation, the exhibitor sends a photo of the exhibition to pr@fsv.cuni.cz.
