Welcome Day 2024
Interdisciplinary Doctoral Research Hub (InDooR Hub)
The Interdisciplinary Doctoral Research Hub (InDooR Hub) is a new workspace for the joint work of a group of FSV UK doctoral students, who will focus on a selected interdisciplinary topic with significant impacts on society, politics and economics. The aim of the space is to enable a selected group of students to collaborate more closely on their dissertation research, to obtain intensive feedback and to exchange research experiences. In addition to motivating thematic and methodological intersections across disciplines, another specific goal is to intensify the preparation of doctoral students for the international academic job market.
The new space with modern technology is located in the Hollar building in rooms 213 and 214. The building also offers infrastructure for follow-up activities, in particular lectures and seminars, in rooms 215 and 212, and individual study in study rooms S09, S10, S11 and S13.
Every two years, the FSV UK Dean announces a competition for the use of the InDooR Hub. The competition will be announced in November or December with the deadline for applications approximately in mid-January of the following year. Interdisciplinary projects on a specific topic led by experienced researchers can apply to the competition.
InDooR of Public Finance 2025–2027
The first competition for the period from March 2025 to February 2027 was won by the InDooR of Public Finance project. The aim of the project, together with the Center for Public Finance and the CORPTAX research group, is to change public finance from unsystematic and short-sighted expenditures and taxes to targeted, effective and evaluated public finance. The doctoral students are supervised by senior experienced researchers – prof. Petr Janský, dr. Matěj Bajgar and dr. Miroslav Palanský.
Public finance, as an inherently interdisciplinary topic, affects the fields of economics, communication, sociology, political science or law. Interested doctoral students from various specializations at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University can find out about the possibilities of cooperation or direct involvement in the project by contacting Prof. Petr Janský via e-mail petr.jansky@fsv.cuni.cz.
