  • Announcement of Josef Vavroušek Student Award

    Submit your thesis to the competition for Josef Vavroušek Student Award which recognizes outstanding works of a social science or interdisciplinary nature with a social science overlap, following the legacy of Josef Vavroušek as a personality who advocated sustainable development as a harmonious coexistence of man, society and nature with an emphasis on responsibility towards future generations. Application deadline is 24 July 2026.
  • Awarding of an honorary doctorate from Charles University to Professor Philippe Aghion, Ph.D.

    Charles University is pleased to invite you to the ceremonial awarding of an honorary doctorate to Professor Philippe Aghion, Ph.D., Nobel Laureate in Economics. Charles University will confer upon Professor Aghion the honorary degree of Doctor of Economic Sciences, honoris causa, in recognition of his outstanding scholarly contribution to the fields of economic growth, innovation, competition, institutions, and long-term technological development. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Great Hall of the historic Karolinum building.

  • Tomáš Fencl from IES FSV UK received Karel Engliš Award

    Charles University honored the best students across disciplines – from medicine and natural sciences to humanities, theology and teaching programs. Karel Engliš Award for the best graduates of social science and humanities programs was also received by a student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tomáš Fencl.
