MEXT Research Students Program at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies

The International Relations Office of the CU Rectorate announces a call for applications for the MEXT Research Students Program through University Recommendation at our partner university Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) from October 2025 to March 2027 (18 months).

The selected candidate will have their tuition fees waived and receive a monthly stipend of JPY 146,000 (stipend amount is subject to change). The offer applies to students of MA and Ph.D. degree programs who are not Japanese nationals and have excellent academic records. The applicant's field of study must be relevant to the fields of study and research available at TUFS. For other information and conditions, including Japanese or English language requirements, students should refer to the Admission Information document or (in Japanese only) to the website.

Only one candidate per faculty will be nominated no later than Thursday, January 16, 2025 via ESS. Along with the nomination, please provide the following documents (in English):

• CV (including updated contact details: e-mail, phone number)
• Letter of purpose / Research plan
• Abstract of Thesis
• Letter of recommendation from supervisor
• Transcript of records of all post-secondary study
• Proof of language proficiency
