Introduction of candidates for the position of CU Rector

At its meeting on April 25, 2025, the Academic Senate of Charles University announced the election of the candidate for the position of Rector of Charles University for the period 2026–2030.

At the meeting of the FSV UK Academic Senate on 16 September 2025, Prof. Ladislav Krištoufek and Prof. František Zahálka will introduce themselves as candidates for the position of Rector of Charles University.

Prof. PhDr. Ladislav Krištoufek, Ph.D. is a professor of economics at the Institute of Economic Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. He currently serves as Vice-Rector for Research of Charles University and a member of the Research, Development and Innovation Council. Between 2018 and 2022, he held the position of Vice-Dean for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University.

Prof. Ing. František Zahálka, Ph.D. is a professor of kinanthropology at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of Charles University. He was a member of the Academic Senate of Charles University for several terms and its chairman between 2019-2024. He currently serves as a member of the Economic Committee of the Academic Senate of Charles University and represents the university in the board of the Council of Higher Education.

The presentation of both candidates to the senators of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 5 p.m. in the Hollar building, room H212. The presentation and subsequent discussion will be available to watch online at this link.

The election of the candidate for the position of rector will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025, at a meeting of the Academic Senate of Charles University.
