A Thank-You Note from the Dean of FSV UK

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of my team, I would like to thank all of you for helping our faculty get through these hard times.

I would like to thank the teachers for how they have managed the transition to distance learning, how energetically they have approached the exploration of new possibilities and have tried to find the best for their students, although many of them have to take care of their children all day long (and, sometimes, even to homeschool every weekday for a few hours as a substitute for regular school lessons), or their parents and other relatives.

I would like to thank the students for their commitment, willingness to learn remotely, sometimes in a completely new way, and for the support they grant to their teachers.

I would like to thank the faculty’s administrative staff for their operational transition to maximum teleworking without compromising the quality of services provided and all those who regularly go to work when it is no possible to work remotely for their commitment and compliance with all security measures.

I would also like to thank those of you involved in volunteering activities. I am delighted that we have so many people at the faculty who have their hearts in the right place.

Last but not least, allow me to personally show gratitude for all your supportive calls, emails, comments and offers to help. They mean a lot to me and give me the energy for guiding our faculty through this challenging period.

In the following weeks, we should finally learn more about what is ahead of us. At the same time, I am aware of the fact that some students have questions that they do not want to ask via mail only, so we have prepared two “sessions” for the upcoming post-Easter week: the first one will offer a discussion with me and Vice-Dean Krištoufek using Google Meet and will be held on April 16 from 10am; the other session is for foreign students with Vice-Dean Zuzana Kasáková and member of the Dean’s Collegium, Dr. Krausz Hladká will be specified. Of course, teachers are also welcome to join in. A link to both discussions will be posted on the faculty’s website and social networks.

We look forward to seeing you! In the meantime, stay healthy, and - if possible - enjoy the upcoming holidays.
