Blended Intensive Programme

Blended Intensive Programme

Short-term intensive programmes are a new feature of the Erasmus+ programme that allows the promotion and implementation of international mobility in a combination of physical and virtual activities. The aim is to foster international connections between higher education institutions to collectively develop programmes for groups of students, academics or administrative staff to be trained, study, and learn using innovative approaches and digital tools.

  • A connection of at least 3 higher education institutions from 3 different Erasmus+ programme countries
  • A combination of a physical mobility of 5–30 days and a virtual component (length not specified)
  • Attending participants can be students of all study cycles, academic and administrative staff

Complete information about Blended Intensive Programmes can be found HERE.

PLANNING YOUR MOBILITY

Below you will find information useful for planning your mobility.

  • SEARCHING FOR BIP

    Searching for appropriate BIPs:

It is necessary to check with the IO whether there is a valid Erasmus+ Interinstitutional Agreement between our faculty and the host institution.

Students wanting to take part in BIP need to message the coordinator of the institute they study at with the following documents and information about the BIP:

    • CV
    • Motivation Letter
    • Transcript of Records
    • General information about the Blended Intensive Programme

The list of the coordinators can be found below. The coordinators then decide on the suitability of the BIP and whether students can participate.

  • SCHOLARSHIPS AND TRAVELLING COSTS

BIP - scholarships and travelling costs

    1st - 14th day 79 €/day

    15th - 30th day

    56 €/day

The scholarship can also be awarded for travel. This means for one day before the mobility starts and one day after the mobility ends.

As of the academic year 2024/2025, a travel grant is newly introduced:

    Travel scholarships

"Distance" is defined as the direct distance between the main headquarters of the sending and receiving institutions.

Distance Calculator to determine the distance

This scholarship can be further increased by a social grant of 100 Euros for stays of 1-14 days or 150 Euros for stays of 15-30 days.

    Proof of travel costs:

Acceptable means of transport to/from the host foreign institution are: train, bus, bicycle or car sharing.

Both journeys - i.e. the first mobility journey and the last journey back to the Czech Republic - must be made by one of the above mentioned means and participants must keep evidence of such journeys (tickets) to be submitted to the European Office (EO) at the Rector's Office of the Charles University for checking upon return.

In the case of the 'car-sharing' option, it must be a shared journey. In this sense, carpooling does not include the case where someone drives you to the mobility location and returns without you (family, friends). You must provide an original affidavit with the signatures of all the persons (address + date of birth) who shared the transport and proof that the journey actually took place (petrol receipt, toll receipts, etc. for both journeys). In the case of travel by bicycle, the original affidavit of the journey made is required.

The allowance cannot be processed during and after the return from mobility.

After returning from mobility, send copies of tickets and other documents to erasmus.outgoing@ruk.cuni.cz.

In case of non-compliance, the allowance will be refunded.

*Please note: Confirmation of Erasmus period cannot be provided, e.g. for the period 1.3.2024 - 30.3.2024, together with a return ticket dated 24.3.2024 showing that the physical mobility ended earlier.

    *Electronically signed original:

Generally, for an electronic document to be an original it must contain a qualified electronic signature. See Act No. 297/2016 Coll. on trust services for electronic transactions. The document is usually in pdf form, which the electronic signature locks for further editing.

  • TRAVELLING TO THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND

By April 2025, all visitors who do not need a visa, except British and Irish citizens, will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) – a digital permission to travel to the UK.

ETA is extending in two phases:

    • Eligible non-Europeans can apply in advance from 27 November 2024 and will need an ETA to travel to the UK from 8 January 2025.
    • Eligible Europeans can apply from 5 March 2025 and will need an ETA to travel to the UK from 2 April 2025.

Visitors can find out when they will need an ETA here:  Check when you can get an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) - GOV.UK (publishing.service.gov.uk)

An ETA costs £10 and permits multiple journeys to the UK of up to six months at a time over two years or until the holder’s passport expires – whichever is sooner.

You can find all the important information in the document HERE.

MOBILITY PROCESS

Below you can find all the important information about the mobility process.
Students are obliged to familiarise themselves with the terms and conditions of the Erasmus+ programme and to comply with them.
We strongly recommend that you arrange everything in advance. The Erasmus+ Agreement must be signed before the start of the mobility!

  • BEFORE DEPARTURE

Before departure, students must have a Learning Agreement (signed by all three parties).

Once the Learning Agreement has been sent to IO (outgoing@fsv.cuni.cz), students will be issued a decision on scholarship and an informational email will be sent once it has been signed.

After the email invitation by the European Office, students must then sign the Erasmus+ Agreement in order to receive the scholarship for the BIP. The Erasmus+ Agreement MUST be signed before the start of the physical mobility of the Blended Intensive Programme.

  • AFTER YOUR RETURN

After you return, the students must provide us and the European Office with the Confirmation of Erasmus Period for Charles University participants leaving for BIP in Partner Country
